Let the site-seeing begin

After a crappy but more importantly FREE breakfast the morning after we arrived, we had an academic orientation and UCR orientation. Boring. Then the rest of the day was ours to do as we pleased. So off we went to explore D.C in all its high security glory.

First we made our way to the Metro Center to purchase a Metro SmartTrip Card - a reloadable card you can swipe to get through train gates or on merto buses. It'll come in handy when I have to get around the city since we dont have Brandon's little red Civic anymore :-(

Afterwards we went to Ford's Theatre, the place where President Lincoln was assassinated. Last time I was in D.C I didnt get a chance to go into the Theatre, I only saw it from a tour bus, so I was looking forward to see the inside this time. I like history so I thought it was pretty interesting and a little eerie to see where Lincoln was sitting when he was shot, the weapon John Wilkes Booth used, and one that really got me was that they had the door to the private area on display which had a peephole in it that they believe Booth made earlier in the night of the assassination so he could look in before he actually made a move. He had it all planned out. Oh, and I found out that I come up to below Lincoln's shoulders. I'm such a short ass.

Once we were done at the Theatre we walked through the Federal Triangle looking at the different buildings like the FBI Building, and taking pictures like damn tourists. Except i'm not a tourist! My new ID says that I'm a Resident of D.C now. Hells Yea!

We had done a lot of walking and were buggered so decided to try out our metro cards and take the train back to the Center. Although we walked a far way, it was only 2 stops on the Metro before we had to get off again. Haha. My butt muscles hurt today from walking though. In case you wanted to know.

Peace Out Homie G
