I met a nice homeless man today.
His name is Max and he has been homeless for 6 years.
6 long years.
I needed a pick-me up. Something to remind me that there is good in this world, and that my trying to be a good person (despite the barrage of crap that continues to find me) isn't a waste of time. That somewhere out there, anywhere, there are other people with kind hearts and warm eyes no matter how frickin' cold it is out side right now.
It's not that I went in search of a homeless person to talk to, it just so happened that the good that I was looking for was found in Max. And no matter how much crap surrounds you, it is possible to stay positive, stand in the falling snow and ice, and whistle to the tune of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
MdDonald's apple pies will never taste the same to me again.
