Christmas away from home

This Christmas was my first Christmas spent away from home and honestly I have been feeling rather home sick since about a week ago and I think it will continue until New Years. I guess it's just being so used to spending Christmas in Sydney and then knowing that there wont be any big fire works display on New Years Eve to look forward to (or Sparklers on the front porch for that matter) that's making me miss home right now.

The day before Christmas Eve I went to my uncle's house and spent the night there. My cousin took me to Wal Mart where I was instructed to pick out something to buy as my Christmas gift because they hadnt boughtme anything so I found a new sweater to keep me warm in Washington D.C. It was nice to spend some time with that side of the family, although they were mostly busy with their own individual things. I got to watch their cable that has ver 50 channels. Merry Christmas to me.

Since my uncle and his family werent planning anything for Christmas Day except for visiting a gravesite since my aunt had to go to work for most of the day, I thought it better that I come back to Riverside instead of making Christmas more depressing by going to see the grave of someone I didnt know. Since the other side of the family hadnt invited me over for Christmas and I wasnt about to rock up without an invitation, I had an urge to stay in my apartment on Christmas Day (the homesickness was truly kicking in). But what kind of Christmas is that?

I ended up spending Christmas with Brandon's family. Even though it didnt cure the homesickness, it was still a nice Christmas to have. In the morning we opened presents at Brandon's parents house. In the afternoon we were at Brandon's Aunties house on his mums side, and at night we were at Brandon's grandmas house on his dads side. I ate a lot of turkey, ham, potatoes, and desserts. I think my new favourite cake is chocolate doboche.

I even got gifts which was surprising - Brandon's mum got me a new purse to use for work in DC, his Auntie gave me a Starbucks card, his other Auntie gave me Sees Candy Chocolates, and his grandma gave me money (which i tried not to accept but the cousins said if i didnt she'd get upset).

I guess that's all I have to say about Christmas this year. Not the most exciting entry. I know, but I still miss home and I guess Im just a little sad right now.

'Til next time,
Me

P.S This is Timmy, Brandon's cousins dog. He is a terrier. He has exactly the same face as Cheswick just put on a bigger body. I miss Cheswick. Dusty too.
