Javier's last night :[

Javier flies home to Mexico tomorrow so tonight he came by to say a last goodbye. Mark, Marie, Brandon, Javier, and I went to In n' Out Burger for dinner and then hung out for a while at the apartments.

As Brandon watched the History Channel, Javier and I reminisced about the last 3 months, all the friends we have made, our accents and whether we have lost them, the places we've been and seen, and the irony of how we first started talking via email and now once again our friendship will have to survive the same way. And yes, he finally said "Andale! Andale! Arriba! arriba!" for me ala Speedy Gonzales. One of my Christmas wishes has been granted.

One thing Javier fell in love with during his stay in the States was none other than the Australian "Tim Tam". After each tiny bite of the chocolatey goodness whenever we had a Tim Tam session at my place he would always look up to me and say "This biscuit is really amazing" in his mexican accent. So, as a farewell/Christmas gift, I wrapped up a pack of Tim Tams from my secret stash and gave it to him. He vows he wont eat them until right before they expire so he can have them around for longer. And even though they were my favourite kind of Tim Tam [chewy caramel] and I probably wont get to have them again until I get home, the smile Javier had on his face when he opened the present was Mastercard priceless.

I fought the tears when we said our goodbyes and he gave me a big hug. But thank God for the internet so we can always stay in touch. Bon voyage Javier! Or should I say, "Andale! Andale!... Hasta luego."
