A little R&R

I recently came back from two weeks of rest and recuperation in Thailand with Chris. It was so great to get some time off work and spend some quality time together site seeing, shopping, relaxing and eating!

We visited two cities and an island during our trip. First stop was the beautiful Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand. In just 2 and a half days we visited temples, shopped at the Night Bizarre, rode an elephant through the jungle, went rafting down the Ping River, played with tiger cubs, and filled up on the best green curry we have ever tasted (for just $2!).

From Chiang Mai we flew to Bangkok where among other things we rode on tuk-tuks, watched 'Calypso Butterfly' Bangkok's famous ladyboy cabaret show,
caught a ferry down the river during a monsoon downpour, lost our camera, went shopping at the world's largest shopping centre, and cooked up a storm at the Bai Pai Thai Cooking School.

We highly recommend you go!

From Bangkok we flew to Koh Samui, the island with the highest rate of injuries and deaths caused by motorcycle/moped accidents. And what was at the top of Chris' Thailand wish list? Hiring a motorbike of course! We survived riding through the traffic to attend the wedding of our friends Lauren & Gryff. The wedding was truly memorable - the ceremony was set on the beach at dusk and the reception also on the beach where we ate Thai food, drank cocktails, and danced the night away under a sky filled with fireworks and love lanterns. Congratulations to Lauren & Gryff!

I can't wait for our return to Thailand one day. There was so much more to see and do (and eat), but until next time I guess we'll just have to practice our Thai cooking skills at home.
