A Polish Wedding on Hamilton Island
Back in February my dad and I flew to Hamilton Island to attend the wedding of one of his closest work friends, Marek. We were only there for 3 days but I tried to make the most of being back in the Whitsundays - swimming, cuddling koalas, scaring dad with my golf cart driving, drinking cocktails, and looking out for hot porter men (cue Krystle..."Porrrrrter Mannnnnn"). The wedding was held in a small chapel on the top of One Tree Hill, with the reception taking place on a restaurant cruise that sailed around the Whitsundays for 4 hours. Now we all know that weddings are notorious for there being excessive alcohol and since this we were around the islands this wedding called for excessive cocktails. Polish drinking standards + Excessive cocktails + Veronica + 4 hours of sailing around on choppy waters... No, I wasnt sick. But I was so ready to get off that damn boat by the end of the night.
Working Girl
I am currently holding three jobs down at three different places - Marketing Assistant, Customer Service Assistant, and Project Manager. For a little while I juggled all three, and at the moment it's down to juggling two. But soon, I will only need to deal with one (Project Manager) and then maybe, just maybe, I'll have a little 'me' time.
Benno in Sydney with a whole lot of Adelaide Gay Boys
Just before I started my third job Ben was in Sydney to visit and attend the Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. The first day he was in town I met up with him and took him to lunch at a Korean BBQ place, then on the Manly Ferry for a a little cruise. Both of us had never really experienced authentic Korean BBQ before, and (I'm pretty sure) both of us won't be experiencing Korean BBQ ever again. Not that the food wasn't nice. It was just hella weird and ox tongue is not something I'll look forward to trying again.
The next night, Heather and I met up with Ben and his entourage of Adelaide gay boys on Oxford Street, who had been 'camped' out all afternoon to ensure they had a good spot to watch the Parade. After close to 5 hours of standing on Oxford Street, dancing and listening to the crude yet hilarious comments these boys were making, the Parade was done and Ben scurried off to the after party.
5 Years Later (and I still dislike them)
I couple of weeks ago was my 5 year highschool reunion. Yes, thats right, 5 year. What a load of bs right? Now personally, I didn't want to pay the $50 to see the same stuck up north-shore wanna-be girls that I went to high school with, drink house wine, eat shitty finger food, all in a shit hole pub. But my friends on the other hand had an inkling to go, so I got dragged along to this nonsense event. Of course, I was right. None of the girls have made any dramatic changes to their personalities, while their looks tell a different story...perhaps a sluttier one? It took me all of 10 minutes to do a tour of the place and say hi to the people that I actually half-wanted to see, and after that all that was left to do was let loose on the tab, drink my $50 worth, and get the f*ck outta there. Good times...Trashfest.
Happy Birthday Ellicia
The Reunion coincided with Ellicia's birthday weekend so after the awkward gathering and a stop off at Pancakes on the Rocks, we headed back to Ellicia's apartment. While some of us crashed out to sleep straight away, Soph Elle and I stayed up til the week hours talking. The next morning we recovered on Balmoral Beach. Love that place.
